My name is Brenna and I am an artist based in San Diego. I work primarily in hand cut paper collage, sometimes combining digital and other mediums. My art explores themes centering nostalgia, identity, and belonging. I take inspiration from my own personal history, and from existing media. When gathering materials from vintage National Geographic or Victoria magazines, modern art and fashion magazines, or used books, I lean toward what already exists to create something new. I like to see how existing forms and symbols inform the process and how a material or image can be manipulated to convey a new message. What I hope to present is a piece of art that the viewer can explore for themselves and make their own connections to.
